My first post on the “Lucky Country” blog is a sad one. Our unit manager on “Lucky Country”, Mick Aitken passed away recently.

Mick was a much loved member of the SA film industry and will be missed by everyone that worked with him over the years.
Those who were on set during the production of “Lucky Country” will remember Mick extremely. He was an enormous personality on set and a great character – few could forget Mick on set each day in his shorts, no matter what the weather was like – and it was freezing most of the time given we were shooting in the Adelaide Hills in winter. Considerate, generous and always in good spirits, Mick was a tireless worker; no-one had an unkind word to say about Mick and he never had an unkind word to say about those he worked with.
I feel very honoured to have met and work with Mick on “Lucky Country” – a producer couldn’t have asked for a better person to run the set.
